Default Old FM catback broke today

The old FM catback exhaust I bought from Johnwag 6 years ago broke today. The front flange broke off the pipe. Luckily I still had the OEM catback to replace it. I went for a little test drive, and honestly I like the quietness of the OEM one. I don't know if I will get another aftermarket catback exhaust!! Honestly, I could not tell any difference in power, but I could tell the difference in the sound level!!

If it's too loud, you're too old.

I thought it is the other way around! When people get old, they don't hear as good! Most old folks learn to read lips instead! Perhaps, it is not the Catback, it is the ringing in Gary's ears b/o age?!

What are you going to do with the old FM catback? I've been thinking mine's too loud, but I don't want to go all the way back to stock.

The muffler section is still good. If I could find another mid-pipe section to put on it I will probably save it for track days.

Fair enough... I was hoping to at least scavenge the resonator out of the mid-pipe.

Strange. I think the OEM exhaust on mine is actually louder than a lot of aftermarket exhausts. Especially when the engine is still cold.
Oh, well I've got two sevens, and two sevens beats a frush.

Did a little research and found that Thermal Research & Development made my catback exhaust. I sent them an email to see if I can get a new midpipe. They did offer a lifetime warranty, but its no good unless you are the original owner. Johnwag's warranty had just run out a couple of months ago.

What's wrong with rewelding the flange?

The fit before it broke wasnt that great because the mid pipe was cracked on the other end when I bought it and was welded. If I can get a new midpipe for around $100 I will be happy. The exhaust note is pretty good, its not too terribly loud.
