    Default Cleaning the windshield?

Has any of yous guys ever tried cleaning your windshield with 0000 steel wool? Sounds like it might work, but I would like more input before I try it myself.

    TIA

Yup... got wicked water spots on a car parked at an apartment complex shortly after moving here... A sprinkler head broke while we were out of town for 2 weeks... It was the only thing that got the calcium off.

What are you trying to clean off?
Maybe 4 wheels aren't so bad after all... wickett.org

I used to clean my shower door with an SOS pad to get the water and soap residue off. It worked great.

Nothing like household tips from Miata drivers.

Just all those years of build up. It looks to me like steel wool is to glass as clay is to paint.

Side note: How many of you have taken the Miller's Analogy test? Or, is that dating me?

I'm a follow the recipe type. One cup white vinegar to 1 cup water?

I tried the steel wool on my Odyssey first. It worked great. The windshield is shining like a diamond in a goat's .

0000 Steel Wool works fine. Works wonders on chrome, too!
Just watch where any 'crumbs' go. They will scratch paint.

Dang... didn't mean to start serious drift. But CLR didn't do SHIT. 5 minutes with 0000 steel wool did. Go figure.

The trouble with steel wool is that it fragments. 00 fragments in to extremely tiny pieces; almost dust. Those pieces rapidly begin to rust and promote rust in any area they are trapped.

There are plenty of products that will remove water spots; on the windshield, CLR will work well. If it didn't take the spots off, you either weren't using it correctly (not sure how that could even happen) or you have something else in your water. Hitting the windshield with a razor blade would be a better method than 00 steel wool. Rubbing compounds will also remove that. Clay bars will work as well.
