Are you sure the battery is holding a charge? Did you try to jump it?
I just returned from a yearlong deployment and my 05' Miata Mazdaspeed won't start. I was not around to disconnect the battery when it went into the garage for the winter, so when I got back, of course the battery was dead. I took the battery to the garage and had it trickle charged and replaced the batteries in the keys. Now when I turn the key the dash lights up but nothing to the starter. I had to remove the fuze for the horn because the security system was annoying me and the neighbors! The radio will not turn on nor will the antenna go up as it did before, so I am assuming that the security system needs to be reset? Did I mention that I am stationed in Germany and cannot go to the local dealer as this is an American spec Miata and they don't have the computer programs to do a diagnostic. Any help would be appreciated as the weather is turning very nice here and the Autobahn is calling.

Is your security system an aftermarket one? Some are designed so that if the battery is disconnected, the ignition is disabled (so if a thief removed the battery to silence the alarm during a car theft and later put it back). I once had a battery go dead and had to remove the security system altogether in order to use the car. I was not the original owner so I didn't have documentation on the alarm to know how to reset it. Hopefully you do. If not, you may have to remove it.
