Thread: Miatas at Hallett XI - Sept 13th-14th, 2013

Did 4+ hours (8.5 sessions) at MSR-C 3.1 this weekend. Car was solid -- even though my instructor managed to take it across the curbing entering rattlesnake at a very disconcerting angle (got a little grass in the rim -- no other damage, accounts for the half session).

Looking forward to Hallet on Saturday. Will be my 3rd time on a track -- ever!

Can anyone comment on the tire rules for the event? I e-mailed Connie and she said the rules stated that in order to run <140 treadwear tires (NT01s for example) you need a full roll cage. I only have a roll bar + hard top and now a little a worried on my ability to run these tires.

Have there been any problems in the past with issues like this?

A roll bar is fine. You don't need a full cage. There are plenty of guys here running NT01 tires and a roll bar - we've never had a problem in the past.

If you have a real roll bar and not a style bar you will be fine on the Nittos.

You're fine, well within the rules. We've all been running there for years with roll-bars.

Probably take you up on the ride-along.

And just so we're clear I have my priorities straight... Beer? Check!

OK, I actually have most of the other things as well. Didn't think about the chair and cooler; good idea.

Seriously, there's not much to hit out there. You might go off, but you'll be fine. Hell, they even tell you how to go off track in the noob drivers' meeting.

I'm just going this weekend to hang out and instruct on Saturday, so if anyone needs some help on Friday and needs a ride along, just come find me. Car port at the end with the silver NC and black Ridgeline.

    Good times and no incidents.

I was only two tenths faster than last year (nothing changed on the car), so my best was 1:35.684. Not bad for a 1.6 on street tires.

The big surprise was EricJ. Man, he got faster!

Another great event at Hallett. Thanks Connie for having this event each year. The fasted lap time was posted by Gary Shuhart in his yellow super charged car at 127.4, If I remember correctly. Best I could manage was a 135.1.

Fun weekend. Great weather. Connie and the rest of the Hallett guys put on a great event. Fun hanging out. Wags thanks for the tip on the shock settings, that with the instruction for jrh512 on how to properly do corner one and the R-Comps combined for a 132.6.
