Thread: Job recruiters/headhunters?

  1. #1

    Default Job recruiters/headhunters?

I'm ready to move on from my current job, but I'm not exactly sure what I want to do next. I'd like to sit down with a recruiter or headhunter and get a little help. Anybody have any recommendations or know somebody I could talk to?

Don't know who to go to, but www.indeed.com is a good way to search (and set up alerts) for all the big job boards.

I've worked the last 7 years at a market research company, mainly as an SQL programmer, but with some management and technical writing thrown in here and there. Before that, I worked a few years as a freelance graphic designer. And before that, I was inside sales/inventory manager for a company that supplied PCB manufacturers.

Lots of recruiters out there, some specialty. I think you need to decide what you want to do first. Maybe look online at some of the job boards and read through some job descriptions and see what interests you then go from there. If you want to stay in marketing doing development there should be some good positions available. Check out a lot of the agencies in the area's websites and see what openings they have.

Rapp, Javelin, Targetbase, Ansira, Brierley and partners (where I work, don't recommend it).

LOL WTF? I'm on the 3rd floor. Which floor are you on? I don't recall seeing a Miata in the parking lot.

I'm trying to get the hell out of here, been here just about a year and hate it.

Did you guys make the move to Plano/Frisco with us? I normally work from home, but I'm on the 4th floor when I'm in the office. They keep running out of space in the office, and it's got the atmosphere of a morgue, so I avoid it as much as I can.

It was a fun place when I started there, but it was a far smaller outfit - I was employee #88. Now they're just way to big for their britches.

I just started last July so not quite a year (don't plan on making it a year either). I live in Frisco so the short commute was a big factor. The management is terrible, I'm on my 3rd director in less than a year.
