Thread: More camber?

    Default More camber?

At my last alignment, they were only able to get -2.0 in the front out of my '97. Could this be due to worn bushings? I've also heard that offset bushings would give me more camber. Will this change my autocross class? The SCCA wording is a bit confusing. It's apparently legal to use offset bushings in ST, but with exceptions:

Suspension bushings may be replaced with bushings of any materials (except metal) as long as they fit in the original location. Offset bushings may be used. In a replacement bushing, the amount of metal relative to the amount of non-metallic material may not be increased. This does not authorize a change in type of bushing (e.g.,
ball and socket replacing a cylindrical bushing) or use of a bushing
with an angled hole whose direction differs from that of the original
    bushing
. If the Stock bushing accommodated multi-axis motion via
compliance of the component material(s), the replacement bushing
may not be changed to accommodate such motion via a change in
bushing type, for example to a spherical bearing or similar compo -nent involving internal moving parts. Pins or keys may be used to
prevent the rotation of alternate bushings but may serve no other
purpose than that of retaining the bushing in the desired position.
    Anybody know? Thanks!

You cannot use offset bushings in stock. You can use them in ST.

Thanks. I guess I should have been more specific. I'm not sure what the above mentioned exceptions apply to. For example, can I use the adjustable version of these : http://trackdogracing.com/superpropo...-05miatas.aspx (or do they fall into the one of the exceptions to the rule because of the metal vs non-metallic ratio or angled hole direction)?

Are you stock ride height? Or is it limited by one side?

Those are offset and would be legal by ST rules.

Thanks, that's good to know. Not at stock, though rear might be close at the moment. Lower, and need to lower even more soon. I'm not sure if it's limited by one side. Too late now to know unless I tried getting it aligned again.
