Default Why didn't people sign up for the Pro Tape PAX Challenge?

I'm just curious - $50 for a guaranteed 6 runs (and possibly a 7th run), a free t-shirt, and a well run, closed entry event (no need to spend the day with 236 of your closest friends) sounded like a great deal to me, even for those who didn't think they stood a chance of taking home any money.

I mean, there are a lot of people on this board who pay an extra $10 to run PAX runs with little chance of winning (especially those on street tires), yet that doesn't seem to stop anyone.

Why so little interest in this event?

Hey Altiain you forgot one :all of the above.

For me it was the $50.00 entry. Along with what I felt was at best the opportunity to place third or fourth didn’t really seem like it was something I needed to try. If some out of towners showed I figured I’d slip farther down the ranks. Then if you weren’t one of the top 50 drivers you were done for the season.

I felt that whilst I'm still bringing my car up to a competitive spec (and more importantly bringing myself up to a competitive spec!!) that I'd just embarass myself at an event like this - autocross is great, I drive against myself primarily not the other drivers - but here it's much more competitive.

Were my skills a little more honed and my car more in the ballpark, then I'd be there at a drop of a hat!

    "None of the above"

The 03 isn't going to be used for those kinds of events... The racer is a LONG way from being ready for anything at this point. That's why I didn't even sign up for the MSR date.

    Why, yes it would!

I have the head & other parts... now to just get the head refreshed with new valve guides and get a woodruff key, seals, timing belt, water pump, idler & tensioner pulleys, valve cover gasket, CAS O-ring, plugs & wires, thermostat, belts/hoses, and a new radiator...

On the plus side - once she's reassembled I can start driving her while stripping & selling all the unnecessary parts.

Any one of ya ever do a valve job on a Miata?

I only run PAX at ER because it was part of the yearly deal. I once went to a SCCA Divisional on street tires. That was enough.
