Hello all new Miata owner,,rescue job in progress on a 2k ,,,have to replace fuel tank ..I'm thinking,the whole fuel pump assembly is rotted,,, car has been sitting for a couple years. Any opinions ,,and or advise would be appreciated..,. I live in northwest Tarrant co. Near TMS.Paul
Basically looking for good parts support , and anyone who might have done a tank change, what to look for, tricks ?? Someone else to do it for me?? Anything,, TIA...
The fuel pump is removed,,and is a rusty rotted mess,, and not sure if the tank can be saved.... Any miata speciality shops around?

If you have to replace the fuel pump, you may want to consider a Walbro from http://autoperformanceengineering.co...tml#mazda_apps . The one listed for a 97 will work in a 99/2000 with some modifications to connectors. I was running through pumps about every nine months using the Autozone replacements. The walbro has lasted a year and nine months so far. (I drive 40,000 miles a year.) The Walbro is louder, though, and will cycle a lot of fuel.

sammm--thx pump is out on garage floor,, and looks really bad,, I can however save the assembly, I will just need pump and sender unit....
onething--I will try to get a hold of Rouge, ive tried the number on the Miata solutions website but no reply as of yet.
Walsted--any and all Info is much appreiciated,,,this 2000 adopted me I guess, don't know anything about it ,but its a cool car,, cant wait to hear it run.
Thanks for the help and response from Rouge,, timing is everything I guess, working out good so far, going after the old tank (extraction) tomorrow, hopefully, at least I might get a couple new tools out of the deal...
