I'm thinking clutch slave as well....

I picked up one of these little jewels the other day but haven't tried it on the clutch on mine yet. But it did a great job on the rear brakes FWIW.

My clutch had a couple of episodes this summer still can;t figure out why it does it.

On a Miata, if its not losing fluid its the Master…..Have you changed it?
Thats sure easier than pulling the transmission.

Fluid level did look normal...maybe it is the master. I'll crawl under it tomorrow and see if I spot any leaks around the bell housing.

Did the clutch work this morning once the truck cooled off??

Yep once it cools off it magically fixes itself.....

I'm wondering if the slave is hanging mechanically somehow......

^Or maybe the throw-out bearing is hanging on the input shaft? I can get it into gear easily, but it doesn't engage.

Mine never wants to act up unless it is far from home or in heavy traffic.....

We looked at a Nice 2006 Chevrolet Colorado in Resale Red this morning. We think that would fix our clutch issues with the Ranger.

Mine is definitely heat related...can't sell it now. It's part of the family.

We sent EKK away - it can be done.

The Ranger only does it if it is over 95 degrees but still at a loss for exactly why and when it will do it. Hate to drop the transmission to replace the slave since the clutch seems fine. If we keep it I'll just replace everything once the weather cools off. One nice thing is all the parts are dirt cheap.

I use to have a Cushman scooter that would not run when it got hot. When it cooled off, it would run again. Turned out to be a small crack in the head that opened up when the engine got hot. It lost enough compression that it would not run.

Maybe something is cracked and causing a loss of pressure when it gets hot. Is there a way to test the amount of pressure in the system?

If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

The engines runs fine when this happens...luckily. Sat there with the AC running yesterday waiting for the tow truck to show up.

Mine is the same, dead of summer it acts up, but this time I couldn't limp it home like I did the first time.

Maybe we can have a clutch-swap party. If we only knew someone with an AC'd garage....

Nah just a picture showing the setup. I thought I has going to add more words but lost interest.
