Came across this tidbit this morning...maybe the extreme heat warps the diaphragm and it won't pressurize?

When did 95 become extreme heat? Back in my day........

I think it is the slave not returning to '"home" so the clutch stays engaged but why it randomly does this I don't have a clue. I believe my clutch is all still stock at 152,000 miles it is so random on when it wants to act the fool I can't get my head around the problem. It has done it 2 times this summer once in Traffic on I35, and once downtown FTW. The only constant is it is hot 95+ outside when it does this trick.

Last time it did this to us I jumped on the clutch pedal a bunch of time and it fixed itself.

That is why I'm theorizing the slave is somehow hanging. The hydraulics on the slave only push it out (disengage) the hydraulics do not return it to the engaged position. No hydraulic pressure is generated unless you are pressing the pedal.

The only solution the interwebz ever talks about is to change the slave out for a new one.... Which is easier said than done!

^The clutch stays engaged or disengaged? This past weekend mine would rev up but not go anywhere, like the clutch pedal was depressed.

I guess I'll start shopping around for a clutch kit w/slave cylinder.

Yep it acts like you never took your foot off the clutch pedal. No forward momentum.

But after a while it returns to normal(ish) operation.

Back from the dead! Before it gets hot this year, I broke down yesterday and took the truck in to get the slave/clutch/rear-main replaced.

When I spoke with the shop owner, he said it sounded like a seal going out in that infamous internal slave.

Picked up my truck after work today, and the slave cylinder was indeed leaking. Good thing I replaced the rear main while I was it, because it was leaking a bit too.

The 'new' clutch pedal feels much lighter, and it engages a lot faster than it used to! I stalled it a few times on the ride home when leaving a stop light.

Where did you take it? And how many pesos to get it done?

Took it to Bevil Automotive here in NRH. Good guy to deal with. Out the door was a little over $400 labor. I supplied the parts.

Wow that is a good deal. Time to start putting my loose change in a Mason Jar.
