Didnt check it goes though every other gear fine just not reverse
Bummer. Sounds internal. There's a reverse lockout inside that may be stuck.

That's what I'm thinking how do you unlock it?
Not certain on those, but I'd start by finding a diagram for the shifter and turret and see how much you can verify there. I'm sure someone with more NA experience will chime in, or check the m.net garage.

Probably just pry the rod back I think it's funny it happened after the clutch job never had an issue before
Check the reverse light switch. I'd bet you bumped it during the clutch swap.
If I read OP's description correctly, he can't get into reverse (rather than being stuck in reverse).
It is possible to install the clutch backwards. When you do that, there isn't enough space to get it disengaged.
If you installed a stiffer clutch, it might be revealing weaknesses in your hydraulics. After installing my Stage 1 clutch (I was slipping the OEM clutch with a turbo), I had to refresh the clutch master and slave and also installed a flexible SS line.
Take heart. Dropping the transmission goes a lot faster the second time.
If the disc is installed backwards on a Miata you won't be able to get into any gear. At least that's my experience from the few times I've had the extreme pleasure of troubleshooting others' work.
I didn't even think about the reverse light switch like POS mentioned. I'd check that first/next.
I need to check the switch then why would it not let me go into reverse though?
Does this make him a switch hitter?

That's the point I was making. The symptoms I spoke to would prevent going into any gear though (like Rob said).
Normally would not throw parts at a problem. But in this case, the switch is cheap enough and easily replaced (much easier than dropping the tranny). You might get lucky.
I might have lost the washer in the midst of everything i dont even know if there was one on to begin with ill pull it put a washer in and try again I know there's not one on there now hopefully that's it
I couldn't use my shop to do this so I had to do it on jack stands and the jack wouldn't go high enough to even get the tranny out from under the car so ill tell you I didn't touch anything thing inside the tranny hah
