    Default Plano A/C shop recommendation

My 1993 LE just got a nice hardtop this weekend. I tried my A/C and it doesn't blow cool air anymore. There was also a squeaking belt noise a few weeks ago every time I turned the A/C or fan on.

Any A/C shop recommendations in the Plano area? Thanks.

I'm going to take mine to Jack Junkies to have a technician diagnose (and possibly vaccuum) my A/C, then do any repairs myself and refill.

Jack Junkies closed down last month.

Track dog racing does A/C work.

Oh good. I've had work done there before. I was just looking at their website this morning but there was no a/c services listed on their service menu.

FWIW i am finding the machine the kwik kar places use around here put way too much oil in the charge. YMMV but it cost me a few hundred to figure that one out after visiting them...

Still no luck finding an a/c shop in Plano to service my LE after following up on a few leads. I believe my miata has the R12 system and Track Dog Racing doesn't service this kind. Two shops in Plano pointed me to the same shop though, McCain's Automotive Airconditioning in Dallas. I called them and they said they still service the R12. Does anybody have experience with this shop?

You might call Executive Imports in Garland. They recently did trickyrix car, but they know him. They mainly work on Hondas, but the may work on yours.

McCain's are good people and know their A/C stuff. We go to them if we get stuck on an A/C problem. Sorry we couldn't help you with the R-12.

I just had my R-12 A/C recharged this morning at McCain's. I have ice cold A/C now! Absolutely positive experience with the shop and they're not far at all - north of 635 by T.I. Blvd.

Care to share what it cost you, and what that included? (just vacuum and charge, or also leak test, dye, etc?)

    Thanks!

Randy said that I still had some freon left but just not enough. No leak test or vacuum was done. Just a recharge. $40 for labor and $75 for freon plus tax.
