Ok so I was thinking of a fun Autox race idea.... I don't know how we could pull it off...but we get 1 neutral car and we get the fastest guys out there..( or think they are fast) and we have a top 10 shoot out... This would only be for fun and would prob be a good learning experience for some... And maybe at some races we can have callouts!!! If someone wants to try and make it on the top 10 list... Haha I think this would be a blast!!!!

Your idea has been done before on a national level. Back in 1990 Grassroots Motorsports created a group called the Council of Motorsports Clubs. CMC. At the time it was a group to help independent clubs get liability insurance for events at better prices. I am sure there where other goals too.
Tim Suddard and the staff of the magazine put on autocross events in towns across the country. Most of these events where small towns. These would be "street events" where you autocross through the downtown streets. The towns would shut down for the events. Lots of people would come out to watch. Heck they would even broadcast the events on local radio stations.
Now for your idea. Being the ultimate salesman, Suddard, had lots of sponsors. Volkswagen was the lead sponsor. They provided two VW Corrado's.
The top 10 PAX would have a shootout with 2 runs in the Corrado to see who was the top driver in the area. We had no problem beating the VW's and well they just were not made to run back to back runs. That is why they needed 2 of the cars. Some events they had to put up concrete barriers along the edge of the streets to protect store fronts and people. Seems a few people crashed the VW's in to the the barriers. So CMC became know as "Crash My Corrado".
The events that I remember the most were Fort Smith, AR and Grand Junction, CO.
They also had team challenges. Where 4 drivers created a team. The teams would come up with funny cool names. I remember I was on a team in Fort Smith with Madarash, and two former ER presidents. I don't remember if we won the team part but if not we sure would have had second.
I really enjoyed the events. I may not have always been the fastest driver back then but they did award me the Driver of the Year in 1990.
They ran one event at Cowboy stadium. There were three Corrados for that event. They had Bridgestone as a sponsor and were swapping tires multiple times during the day. I think I ended up 3rd behind Neal Bellamy and someone else. I've got some photos that I can post up of the event. It was in conjunction with a regular autocross. I remember two of the cars entered, a Lignefelter twin turbo C4 vette and a triumph spitfire with a 302 and webber stacks sticking out of the hood. It was a fun event.

Wow... never knew about the CMC events! Those sound pretty cool.
Ashley, we've done something similar with 4-5 people before, but on a smaller scale. All you need is a rental car (we used a Neon) with damage insurance and four willing friends to chip in.
Also helps if someone brings tire mounting equipment, since you can cord the front tires on a stock Neon pretty quick with 4 drivers at Mineral Wells...

Hmm interesting..... Let the games begin.... Hehe
Very cool story Kenny. Really wish we still had marque events like that around the country.

They did something like this at nationals last year. The top PAXing driver from each heat all went head to head in the SCCA owned Golf. You got 2 runs, so the first run was just getting familiar with the car and then one actual run to get things done. I made it into the competition but coned away the win.
This has been done by some ER old timers who's names are not mentioned for plausible deniability purposes. (You know who you are) They plowed a course in a field and ran a rental car on the course with a watermelon in their lap. There was also a good deal of alcohol involved. Needless to say, some old time ER guys might still be blacklisted from the rental car companies for returning cars covered in mud full of busted watermelons and empty vodka bottles.Ashley, we've done something similar with 4-5 people before, but on a smaller scale. All you need is a rental car (we used a Neon) with damage insurance and four willing friends to chip in.

If I remember correctly, BMW use to do that at the end of the year with the class winners using a sponsored BMW.
I did a few CMC events in Cheyenne WY when I lived up there. I think that the group met there end about 10 years ago after one of there street crosses went bad in a small town in Nebraska.
The challenge part was really cool and they ran everyone at the end of the event, and these events where a big deal to the town they ran in.
