Under Cooling switch.... that's why I couldn't find it... http://m.oreillyauto.com/mt/www.orei...1963&ppt=C0039
So stuck in traffic today the miata decided to act up. Temp gauge made it to 12, so I put the fan on full hot (that was fun) and pulled over. Fans weren't kicking on unless ac was on. Jumped the TFA and GND pins to check the fan, fan works. Left it jumpered for the rest of my drive. So bad thermoswitch? Or bad relay? My thought was if it was the relay even jumpering it wouldn't work, right? Are the relay and switch o'reily/ vatozone parts or do I need to hit up the dealership?

Thermoswitch is what solved my fan issues on the 1990 I had. Bought it at Oreillys.
You migbt also check to see if you have a "lazy" radiator fan motor if you still have the original motor. Those fan motors don't last forever.
1990 White NA - SOLD
1994 Black NA - SOLD
2006 Red NC - GT with limited slip, HIDs, all OEM.
Both fans seem to have equal "oomph" when on.... how does one test laziness?

Amperage test will tell you if the fan is running in spec.

My 94 needed a new relay a month or so ago. Got it on Ebay for 6 bucks. Autozone had it in stock as well but 27.
Remind me not to start a dfwmiata health care cooperative.

If you've got a "lazy" fan motor, maybe you should make it go out and earn its keep. Surely it could mow the lawn or walk the dogs or something...
Damn lazy and shiftless fan motors...
