Default Hi, My name is Doug and I am already addicted to Miata Modding

I am an avid sport bike guy, but I don't bounce quite like I used to, so I decided to try a Miata. I bought a used 92, cheap. Then I started with the stuff it needed, hoses, timing belt, water pump, coolant reservoir, radiator, wheels, tires, a roll bar, a radio, removal of some odd old 90's remote entry, valet and alarm system, new rear wheel bearings, an a/c evaporator, Yellow top shocks, Racing beat sway bars, front strut and adjustable end links from TDR. I just got my new 15 X 7 wheels from Tire Rack with the Dunlop Direzza ZII tires and put them on the car. My new axles for the rear and TDR tow bars arrived. I also got harnesses, a proper spare tire mount, a battery and a battery mount. A standard antenna, a set of headrest speakers, door speakers and I got Jeff Anderson on Miata net to rebuild my radio. I am sure I missed a bunch, but as you can see I can't leave the friggin' thing alone.

I didn't mention I am a member at MSR Cresson, I have made 3 trips in the last month and a half with her. First was with stock suspension and my Falken Ziex's (for sale 2 sets, one set of Daisy wheels and one set of steel wheels). That was fun, I drove with my Buddy Chris, who got me in here. Then I did a day with my suspension and no alignment. Much better! Last Saturday, I had had the suspension properly aligned to a 1/2 to 2/3 race set up, and I went back to the track. The thing is great but I was driving off of the tires. So I bought new ones and half shafts. Hopefully I will get the shafts in and hit the track on Sunday! This thing gets better and better, I figure with proper tires, I should be able to whip her around the track pretty well.

So, if you see me, say, "Hey" I am down in Glen Rose, so I have lots of nice chip and seal to scoot around on down here.

Here are a couple of My toy

And a couple of my RC8R just for fun

Ha! You were addicted to modding way before you bought the Miata, and I've got the DRZ to prove it. Welcome, Doug.

Chris, I have axles! Woo Hoo! Then some Sunday track time. Hopefully it will be an easy swap since I had the bearings changed last week. They said they axle would just pop out. BTW that redmenace thing is scary....:P

Stuff I removed from the Miata

and, of course, the free ground wire mod, they had used it like this with only electrical tape covering the "splice"

Hey, Rick from Granbury. Live about 7 miles from MSR-C. Starting to do HPDEs (took my Pontiac G8 there in July -- track prepping the Miata now). Will probably join the track next year.

You planning to go to Hallett?

Curious, what was up with your halfshafts? That's not usually something that goes bad unless a boot tears (at least not that I know of). I'm swapping in a Torsen on my '90 now. If I need to pay attention to halfshafts beyond a basic cleanup, now's the time.

Nope they said at MER that they never are bad, but my boots were shot and the CVs rusted. So I put the new ones in today. Here is a bling shot for the Miata faithful.......

The rust is from just overnight with a rainstorm this morning.

Thinking about Hallett, never been there, might be fun. I piddled around a bit and now it will cost more, but that is ok. I will have to drive up with my Dunlops on, but it should be ok if I do. Still thinking about it. I also would like to do the advanced stuff, but I don't know what it takes to qualify as advanced.

From the entry form, they only asked if you had driven at Hallett before. I haven't. Planning to just do Saturday.

Let me know. We can caravan up on Friday.

Well, I didn't know where to put it, so I will reintroduce, I am in Glen Rose, and I am picking up a new 2013 Club in white today. Can't wait, so I guess I will be selling my little NA. Short trip, but it has been fun so far.

My NA was sitting with a buddy for a year, and was reluctantly sold by a kid before, so I am not sure.
