    Default HID's on miata?

I cant find a kit or headlights that will make this work properly, I don't want the cheap $50 ones unless I cant find anything else. Has anyone done this?
But at the same time dont want to spend $400 on it. theres gotta be something better then the cheap kind.

There is. It's called E-code H4 headlight conversions. They are not HID, but allow you to use a whiter h4 bulb and have a better light pattern with crisp cutoff. Aside from true low profile kits with quality projectors, there is no hid solution for NA that actually works right. Please don't join the ranks of douches who stick hid bulbs into reflector housings. They are a huge pita for everyone else on the road.check out hella or Bosch E-codes (European standard). Under $100 and worth it.

The H4 lights are a HUGE upgrade over stock sealed beams. Without the proper reflectors and lenses, the HIDs are dangerous to oncoming drivers because you're just scattering that bright light all over the place. Plus, yes, they are EXTREMELY douchey if you just stick them in an NA headlight bucket. I've seen it done... just awful.

Buy 2001+ headlights and then you can install a proper hid bulb/ballast in those projector lenses.

Wasn't there a guy around here who made proper HID kits for NBs?

I didn't think the 2001+ headlights would fit quite right on a 99 bumper cover? I think it leaves a gap between the headlight/bumper cover. plus I believe the 01+ headlights are a tad longer horizontally.
