Sounds like fun. Put me down as a definite maybe.
Please plan on attending the first annual Metroplex Miata Enthusiasts / Cavanaugh Flight Museum, P-51 photo shoot, and Chucks Restaurant dinner.
The Cavanaugh Flight Museum has over thirty restored aircraft in flyable condition from WWI, WWII, Korean War, Vietnam, etc.
I talked to our volunteer coordinator about a Metroplex Miata Enthusiasts day for the group to come out, tour the museum, pull the P-51 Mustang out on the ramp, and us photographing our Miata's in front of the Mustang. I did this in January with my motorcycle group and it went really well.
The normal admittance for the museum is $6.00 per person but we can do it for $5.50, or $5.00 if we have over twenty folks attend.
Details:
Date: Saturday, June 04, 2005.
Time: Meet at the museum between 2:30 and 3:00 PM. Tour the museum. Photo shoot starts at 4:00 PM.
See the Cavanaugh website here: http://www.cavanaughflightmuseum.com/ A map and numbers are on the site.
Park in the front parking lot between the main entrance and hanger 3 by the vehicle entry gate.
Entry to the museum will be $5.50 (Or $5.00 depending on the number attending). This includes four hangars of restored aircraft including our maintenance hangar and the photo op.
Family or friends are welcome to attend the museum and photo shoot.
You can tour the museum while the P-51 is being staged. We will then return to our Miata's and enter one by one to park in front of the P-51 for individual shots. After all have their private shots we might try a group shot if all goes smoothly. You must follow directions closely as no one can get their car too close to the P-51 unless you have a very big checkbook
Tailchaser will be taking photos with his nice camera and tripod. Bring your USB drive to get copies afterwards while we eat, or you'll be able to download them later.
Bring your own camera and pass it off to someone else so you will have your own shots during the shoot.
When we are finished we will drive over to Chucks Restaurant about five blocks away at the South-West corner of Midway and Trinity Mills. Their number is 972-407-9757. I have talked to Desmond there and he is reserving us a place for us to gather, eat, and swap war, err. Miata stories.
Please post to the forum page, or ping me off list, if you are planning on attending and how many folks so that I have a good idea of numbers both for the museum and Chucks.
I know this date will conflict with some but we did our best. If it's successful we'll do it again next year.
Thanks.
