    Default Removing crank sprocket

I want to remove my crank sprocket so that I can replace the front main seal.

There is a video on youtube of a fellow that hammers the key and eventually removes it.

I was thinking that the sprocket should be removable with a small jawed pulley puller with the crank key in place.
What does the service manual say on this?

Jay, I'm headed to work now. Send me a text as a reminder and I will tell you what the factory manual says tonight.

Mine was corroded on there pretty badly. Even with the key out, it would not budge. Eventually had to use a hammer and chisel on the teeth to get it to turn and break loose, which also required a new sprocket.

Heat and freeze-off worked for my stuck gear. Ymmv.

I have had no issues during timing belt changes and seal replacements, but I am very liberal with the PB Blaster. You may want to try soaking all affected parts in PB Blaster before beginning.
    Hope this helps.
