Default Lightweight NA lower steering column cover?

JDSM is now offering a lightweight lower steering column cover for NAs. The factory piece is very heavy stamped steel plate, I'm making them out of much lighter fiberglass. This will save several pounds and still look stock!

Let us know if interested, pricing has yet to be set, but it will be very reasonable... maybe a group buy to get it running?

No pics or website yet, as we're still getting the biz part figured out, but you have a version(albeit heavy) at your knees...

It will attach in very much the same way as stock, even reusing your original rubber trim pieces.

Interested in a NA1. Note the NA2 is different. Will they come finished or need to be painted?

Perhaps you should do that before advertising products for sale.

They will be painted in either black or black, your choice... I believe all lower column covers where black, even in tan/parchment cars(you can get pink by special order).

Why was it that heavy to begin with? It would have been cheaper for Mazda to make it out of plastic, why do you think the didn't?

It's to "protect" your knees from the steering column mounting bolts in the event that you crash and submarine. NBs have a plastic panel with a steel plate screwed to the back.

I try not to live my life in fear, therefore, I won't crash(besides, a lot of us are now running race seats with 5 point harnesses)

Default Here goes our first group buy!

First off, I have to correct myself, the panels did come in tan as well as black.

I will have 10 lower steering column covers(NA1) ready by the end of the weekend! get on the list and you can pick up at my place, or I can deliver to Kellers(or we can talk shipping).

I looked up replacement stock pieces, they go for $50(ish)... how does $30 sound for a lightweight version?

PM me to get on the list, cash or paypal is accepted. Let me know what color you want(raw fiberglass, black, or tan)

    JDSM.

P.S. as part of the first run, you will have a LIFETIME warranty on the part, not the paint finish.

Here is a great way to increase that message quota. Plus, it's a good way to give back to the site owner since you're peddling goods on here.

Anyway, the mailbox is now empty...
