Hi DFW Miatas!
I recently purchased the tub from Bluegs03 and am trying to find a GOOD cage builder that is local. I've looked into a few different cage builders on the coast (TC Design, Blackbird, Evil Genius) but SURELY there is someone around here. I don't want the miata cage or any similar canned package. I would appreciate any leads in the DFW/Houston/Arkansas/Kansas City/etc area. Even a "I know a guy who knows a guy" or "you should call this place because they might know". I've got the donor car sitting in the backyard and the tub in the garage. Getting the itch to get started!!
The goal for the car is most likely SCCA STL, but I'm still on the fence about NASA PTD. It's tough to argue with the SCCA participation numbers (40+ car field in STL at COTA with 80 cars total on track!!). Will most likely run TX region (SOW) and dabble in Mid-Div with the eventual goal to take it to Thunderhill. While the end game is several years away, we've been making our baby steps to get the program and infrastructure going to make T-Hill a reality. I can gladly go more in depth about Thill, but first I need the car caged.
Thanks in advance for any leads!
Todd

Also check out Vorshlag Motorsports in Plano, or Spec Motorsports in McKinney. Both specialize in race car fabrication. If they can't do the cage for you, they certainly will know who can.

^this There is also a guy that used to work there that builds cages that started doing it on his own. He is really good, Ill try and find the name of the place.

Matt Lemons @ Lemco motorsports did our LeChump cage. It was a work of art... it's a shame to have it in such a POS. http://lemcofab.com/
Thanks for all of the suggestions. I made more progress on here than i did in the last week!! I'll follow up on those leads. Does anyone have any pictures of cages from the suggested leads? I'm curious to see their design and skill level of fab.
Does anyone have any experience with these guys (http://www.gilfusracing.com/)?
NINJA EDIT: I'm currently searching the internet for builds for the guys that don't have websites.

Before I miss-guessed my tax situation, I was in the planning/costing stages of sending my car to TC Designs in California. If the work is good, and the price is right, I will travel!

To add to this list, Jesse Prather Motorsports out of Topeka and East Side Performance (Jim Drago) out of Memphis.
I'll probably go with East Side since they have built multiple winning cars, and their design is very close to want I originally want.
Thanks for the suggestions. I looked into all of them. I went to the SCCA Majors last weekend to shop around / meet people. Met Jim Drago and was impressed with the cage, and the cars performance. Hs ballpark quoted price is reasonable, but we haven't nailed it down. I'll post back when it's complete.
My neighbor can build a mean cage, he's done several ALMS, Rolex Grand AM, Continental Tire Challenge pro race cars.

I didn't know LG even did club level cage work. I've been to his old shop and see him race a few times throughout the year. Nice guy. Probably a little too rich for my blood though.
