Default 1990 NA for sale ($3k obo)

****CAR IS SOLD, FRAME RAIL BRACES STILL FOR SALE***
I dont want to, but sometimes you have to make the tough decisions. im flexible on the price, and willing to sell the frame rail braces separately for $125

    Heres the cl ad: http://dallas.craigslist.org/ndf/cto/4382376503.html

Up for sale is my 1990 NA Miata. I don't want to sell it. In fact, my heart is breaking as I write this. It was the last project my Dad and I worked on before he passed away, but the time has come and I have to part ways with it, as I have neither the time nor the space to get it running again.

    The good:
NO ENGINE MODS, not even intake or exhaust.
Custom paint job (no vinyl here)
Flyin Miata Stage 1 suspension kit
    Polyurethane suspension bushings
Flyin Miata frame rail braces (not installed yet)
Factory hardtop (with side striker plates and everything!)
    Konig Retrack wheels (15x7.5")
Garage Vary retro tail lights (I paid $1100 brand new for these)
Baer Decelarotor slotted/drilled rotors and Hawk brake pads
Paint is is tip-top shape apart from one little chip on the headlight cover

    The Bad:
Blown head gasket. (This is the worst thing, and if you are a reasonably experienced wrench-turner this shouldn't be an issue for you. work and family keep me so busy that I just can't get around to it. That and I live in an apartment which makes this kind of project nearly impossible.)
Radiator fans are not working. (I suspect strongly that this is the cause of the blown head gasket...)
AC needs to be recharged (R-12...I know)

    The Ugly:
Corbeau Forza 2 racing buckets. (this might be a good thing for you, I dunno. they're sun faded a little and have a few tears. They WILL hold your butt in place like gorilla glue though, so at least they're functional.)
Some carpet bits are missing, and the carpet that is remaining is a rather faded red color...

You'll have to tow this beauty home yourself, unless you feel like attempting to limp it slowly while it leaks coolant. Your choice.

Again, I really hate to see her go. She is an absolute RIOT to drive, even with the engine bone stock. But I have to put first things first, and right now, I can't be paying insurance on a car I'm not driving, so lucky you.

You know... You *can* suspend the insurance on it so you won't pay anything. It looks like you've gone a long way with this car, and you have some nice parts on it! The sentimental value... man, you can't replace that and I'll say, for sure that you'll regret this later and it'll haunt you forever. Seriously.

    I'm interested in the rails.

I've thought about that, and I think I'm at peace with it. My plan is to wait until my life gets into a better, hopefully more stable place and then buy another fun car that I can work on with my own son, whom my dad adored but barely got to know.

    I'm interested in the rails.
You are welcome to purchase them then. :)

That hail damage is $$$$ to repair.
    Pull the hard top>>>sell it.
    Notify insurance>>>total it.
You'll come out on top, IMO.

^This. Seriously. Then buy it back and sell it for parts. You can get your money back in a hurry. If this does happen, I'd like first shot at the GV tails, front fenders, and wheels.

I can identify with samm. 2 of my cars that were damaged aren't covered. Bummer.

    I don't have full coverage.

I would part it out, except that I live in an apartment and have nowhere to store it while it gets slowly unmade. I know that the parts are worth more than I'm asking, but my situation isn't really letting me take advantage of that fact.

It would be to your advantage to get it running and drive it; or then try to sell it. Sadly, as is, I doubt it is worth your asking price ($2200) so IMO there will not be many interested in taking the chance of getting there money back, much less making a profit.

Assuming the top is in good shape and not beat up too, you could probably get $1000 for it. Wheels...maybe $200-300. Other parts total maybe $500+....that's not much for someone to reach out and take the chance.

If you get it running, you'll at least have transportation for the cost of gas and minimum insurance...or possible transportation for someone with a few bucks. But, regardless, part-out the top for maximum return.

    Cheers and GL.

Mine got jacked in the hail storm of 2012. I ended up finding used parts online and replaced most of the damaged parts that way. I can feel for ya.
