So essentially this is hi and goodbye. You live in Colorado with all those twisty mountain roads and you are selling the Miata. WTF?
Some of you may remember my thread from a year ago wherein my poor neglected MSM died an electrical death at the hands of a wayward vacuum cleaner hose.
Well, the wires were soldered and repaired, and then I got lazy about it since winter was approaching. Now that the weather is warm(er), I replaced what ended up being a blown coil pack and a melted fuse, and now my little Habanero is happy as can be and purring like a kitten.
I've already put almost 250 miles on it since last week.In a few weeks it'll return to DFW with a new owner, so some of you guys will probably see it out on the road, at Keller's, etc.

It's the low oxygen levels up in the mountains.

It's not practical, in any sense of the word. It's useless between September and April when it's snowing. A lot of the roads out here are not regularly maintained and many of them aren't even paved. The potholes are deeper than the 4" ground clearance. I can't even get it into the driveway because it'll get stuck on the curb (trust me, I've tried). It can't hold a candle to my Jeep in terms of cargo and passenger capacity.
If I were still in Dallas, I'd absolutely be keeping it, but up here it doesn't make sense. I'll definitely miss having it, but it's time to move on. My priorities have changed and the MSM is not on the list of must-haves. I'd much rather someone enjoy it than it being neglected and unused up here.

Ignore Mr. Jealousy BR, he just spends too much time on the track to have any perspective...not. Sounds like you've got a great spot up there in CO. Glad the MSM is headed back to a DFW owner. Its a great looking car.

Hey Maverick! Glad you got it sorted. Not sure if you recall, but we had a conversation via PM, last year where I expressed interest in buying it. I sure wish I had stayed in contact. Whoever got it is a lucky guy.

My god that is a gorgeous car- and my absolute favorite color Velocity Red!
Whomever bought it indeed is very lucky. Hope they bring it to Keller's one night!

Glad to see it's coming back home! Having driven my Miata to New Mexico several times during winter snowstorms, I get it. Doing snow donuts in the Albertsons parking lot is fun for, like, an hour before you realize you have to actually get somewhere or haul something. I bet those poor RS3s are garbage up there anytime except summer...
Stay in touch! Hell, we hardly ever see your brother any more!

Sorry, Chris, I completely spaced! The person who's buying it is indeed a lucky man. I don't know if he's a member here or not, but one of the conditions of the sale will be to become one, to take it to Keller's at least a few times, and to get it to Propwash if possible. He lives in Bedford near my brother, so I don't know how often it'll get over to its old haunts in north Dallas. He's already promised to install the door bars I never got around to doing, so that's a plus. I'm trying to convince him to finish the upgrades to the IC, intake, midpipe, etc. that I had planned. Moar fasterer!
Yeah, trying to drive it in snow, especially on the RS3's, is not fun. The last time it went out in the snow it drifted into a snowbank while making a turn and I had to push it back out to where it could find some traction. Fortunately it was a quiet mountain road and there was no traffic.

Well if he does come to Keller's, I'll be sure to buy him a beer or two, then make him an offer on the car. :)
Looks like I'll be heading up on the 26th to take the new owner to his new car. Road trip! He's giddy as hell and can't wait to have it in his garage. The car will be VERY well cared for. Not sure about Keller's (we are West-siders afterall so we go to bed right after our earlybird specials), but he's expressed interest in Propwash and meeting all the guys. I'm doing everything I can to make sure I can make it too.

Glad to hear it's coming back. Always happy to have more MSM's in the area
