Thread: VVT timing belt time

    Default VVT timing belt time

Evil is going off to Cali in a couple weeks for a Choir Competition so Vivid (Her 2002 Miata) will be resting for about 4 days. Since the wheels on that car never stop turning this will be a great opportunity to do some maintenance!

I've done a couple of timing belt changes on the vintage Miatas bet never on one of these new fangled Miatas with the VVT (2001-2005).

Anyone tripped across a decent write up showing the VVT cars timing belt change? Any tips tricks or techniques you want to share??

Looks like other than the VVT pulley the rest looks like the old school stuff.

    TIA

    Going to NTAXS?

You probably don't want to make the trek, but I will happily help you do it if you want to come my way.

I've been searching for a good writeup on that too since my car has 0 history and I was planning on doing mine too.
Care to share your notes when you do it? Or if you need a helping hand, I can learn and help at the same time?

I could probably help, especially since it's NMC. Let me know when. I have not done a VVT but I am willing to help.
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

Can you please share on what kit you order and why? I looked at the kits from TDR, MossMiata and FlyinMiata but they all sell the kit with different parts and the rest you have to order separately? I'd like to start collecting all the parts that are needed and the parts that need to be changed that are touched during the whole process. Thanks in advance
