Thread: Air Conditioner not blowing cold air

Default Air Conditioner not blowing cold air

My 93 Miata is not blowing cold air. We added (freon?) but it leaked right out from somewhere in the lines. The compressor is working. Where in the DFW-area can we take it to find the leak(s)? I love my Miata, but don't want to go through the summer without air. Thanks.

Any automotive shop can test for leaks. You can also buy a leak detector kit at any parts store that uses UV dye, but its only going to tell you what you already know, other than locating the leak. A leak that bad needs to have the system evacuated after repair, so take it in. I had pretty good luck with the dealer on getting something liek this done RIGHT, but it won't be cheap unless its something very simple like a bad fitting, valve or a replaceable line. Many times the leak is int he compressor itself, which would be easiest to fix by simply locating a used replacement.
