Default Motor swapped in, now troubleshooting

I've got the replacment motor back into my 1990 Miata daily. new oil pump, water pump, flywheel, clutch, swapped cams, crank seals, cam seals, valve cover seal, oil pan seals, etc, and generally cleaned thing up a bit.

Now to begin troubleshooting a cranking no start condition

My wires were not correct, changed them according to the diagram in the link in next post.
    Still have cranking no start.

Check the basics Jay, fuel air spark. Pumps are dieing frequently due to the ethanol in the fuel causing them to rust.

I didn't smell very much gas in the tail pipe. After work, I'm going to pull a plug and see if it's gassy.

Just too busy over the weekend to do more troubleshooting,

I've ordered a fuel pump, pressure gauge, inline adapter, and radiator.

Jay, sorry I didn't reply to your text the other day. I was out of the country for work, but I am back now. If you want me to come over sometime this weekend, I bet we can figure it out and get it running. Check fuel and spark. I usually just check the pressure valve on the fuel rail and make sure it's pressurized. If you have pressure there and no fuel on the plugs, it's an injector wiring or CPU issue. Spark could be a variety of things too: cam sensor, coil pack, CPU etc.

My first guess on this without troubleshooting further is the cam angle sensor 180 degrees out of phase (if it's possible). I'm not sure how the detents are on the back of the cam. If they are the same size, this is my first guess.

The fuel pump, radiator and the adapter for fuel pressure gauge. I think the Fuel pressure gauge will make it tomorrow.

So, I'm going to start the installs Saturday morning.

I'll call you if that doesn't get the car to bust off.

Are the fuel and return lines swapped? Missing ground?
    ...and across the line.

I would be more inclined to think something went wrong on install. That is if the car was running before the swap. Follow the harness and make sure everything is connected. Get someone with a 1.6 and compare. It could be something as dumb as getting the fuel lines backwards or even connecting the coil packs backwards.
