Starting to like not exactly a safe alternative to smoking.
I've seen several of y'all with them. I have a good friend who is trying to quit smoking and I'd love to get her a really nice, high quality e-cig.
I'm hoping to glean some knowledge from y'all as I'm completely clueless about the subject.

Still sounds better than cigs. And smells better too. Some of that sounds like paranoia, some of it sounds like tobacco propaganda, and some sounds legit.
Meh.
Still any input is appreciated. She's already smoking and has expressed an interest in this method to stop (or at least replace her vice). So, I'm going with it.
You don't really need to go super-fancy. The typical $20-40 setup works great, and allows you to afford a couple of spare battery packs, which is the greatest weak-link that leads people to grab a real cigarette again, if they have no charge when they are craving.
Go to a smoke shop or cell-phone repair store, as they seem to be big purveyors. Get a couple flavors of juice, start fairly strong on the nicotine %, and at least one spare battery.

Good to know. I don't have a problem spending whatever. In fact, I'd rather spend a bit more (if warranted) to ensure it doesn't crap it on her so that she won't reach for traditional smokes.
My wife bought me a BLU e-cig for christmas this year after I repeatedly joked I NEEDED a USB chargeable cigarette, lol. It tasted good, but didn't have the 'punch' of a real cigarette, lasted a decent time. If I was a full time smoker again I doubt it would have kicked the craving.
Out of curiosity I read up on them and the singles like what I had are weak, the chargeable packs are much better, If I remember the flavor was rated pretty high among others. I think if I remember what I read the e-hookas are generally stronger but ive never tried them. That's my experience.
I used to smoke not a lot but regularly, now I have one every now & then around smoker friends or if i'm out drinking. Go for a stronger type cause the one I had wouldn't have replaced the real thing if I needed it to. I think they have forums with tons of information & reviews on each brand & flavor. Some people take them really serious and go crazy mixing their own flavors & nicotine content.

If you look at the numbers, nicotine replacement doesn't work nearly as well as quitting. If it did, Nicorette would eventually have no customers.
Here's how I quit after 20 years: http://whyquit.com/joel/. Check out the videos.

Search Vaping on the computer. Tons of info. out there. My biggest problem is I don't want to be bothered with having a
bunch of parts all over the house. Mouth pieces, syringes to put the juice in, batteries, juices, etc. I do want to quit though, it's just not a good time yet. I know
it's never a good time, but I'm going through some shit these days.

I quit via hypnosis several years ago...worked for me.
^Seriously. Went to an office in Dallas off 75....don't remember many details, it's been over 20 years now. It's not like you see in movies where you go to 'sleep'.
I remember everything he said and it was all positive reinforcement stuff....when I 'woke up' I was all slouched over like a wet noodle.....super relaxed.
I then had a bunch of nervous energy to burn off for a few weeks at least.
Gotta look into this.

Vaping has been great for me. Pm me and I can help you choose a few options and budgets. The biggest part is selecting the correct nicotine level. I have not had a reg cig in over 14 months. Tried patches, gum, cold turkey. This works because it replicates the feeling.
While it is not as safe as quitting all together, I know what I am mixing in my juice.
Just my experience and thoughts.
