you think i should go with the NC?

Yes. Its a better car in every way, prices are very good now, and the aftermarket is strong and getting stronger for it. While the 93LE is a beautiful and classy Miata, that one is awfully spendy, and its still a 1993 car when you gwet right down to it. If you want to spend $7k, at least get a 2001/2002 NB. Stiffer chassis, vvt motor, torsen diff, much better interior, etc. I still think the best car and the best value is an NC at around $10-11k.

Just buy a cheaper nice 1.6 NA and swap in a VVT motor and have fun.

Yes, "just" do that. Then you can have a patchwork wiring/engine/ecu Frankenstein married to a flexy outdated chassis with a tiny diff. Great way to burn $6-7k, and not be able to drive it for a few months as you peice it together. Best part, it'll still be worth half what you spent making it!

Edit - ok, not quite that bad, but swapped engine/ecu miatas are for a pretty small crowd of people, and definitely not a "presto" simple or cheap solution. Just saying.

I've kept plenty of cars. Drove the NC for 3.5 seasons. Keep whatever you like, the NC is still a better car. I've owned and raced all 3 gens, including NA1.6 and 1.8. Oh, I drive a Mini. :)

^Carfax shows it's been in an accident and started life up north...I'd pass on it.

Agree w Sammm, that's a ton of miles, and the accident makes me leery. I'd rather spend another $2k up front than later. Since its at a dealer, you know they bought it at auction for 30-40% less, which is waay below market value. Red flag.

And some people want a Miata with a Ford 5.0 in it.

Heck is rather have an S2000 than an NC, but that's just me.

And today, I drove an Audi. Try racing me in it when the weather is awful like this morning. Different cars all do different things well and some poorly. No car does it all well.

Happy hunting. Personally I think the OP would be really happy with a 94 to 01 NA or NB with a FM turbo kit for 7k ish.

And a hard dog roll bar...... No style bars.

Don't worry I'm going v8 or v6 myself. I'm just busting mike's balls. It's all in good fun.

To the OP, drive as many as you can from different gens. You get a feel for which one you like. So like the old skools and some like the new stuff.

If I had it to do over, I'd get a '94 to get the 1.8 and theast year of not having to pass codes through the OBD2 port. Whatever power mods you want to do down the road will be less of a hassle.

Balls busted. Audi's are heavy and have too much weight in the nose, plus squishy suspension. Race where? On a track? Wet or dry, NC will win.

All Audi's? Maybe you don't know Audi as well as you think. And let's make it wet or even snowy just for giggles. Miata's handle great, but let's be honest with stock motive power they are slow even on race tracks. It's a car where you have to keep the throttle pinned to the firewall and count on it's handling.

For the same price as a used NC, I can get a used S2000. Want to race one of those in an NC on a racetrack?

Consider your balls squished into uselessness, unless of course you don't think VIR is a real race track. I'm not going to count the number of Audi's that pop up on this list ahead of the NC Miata (dead last by the way). You can do that. And you continually question my car acumen.... ironic.

Hey OZMDD, motor trend just finished lightning lap 8 at VIR. The NC miata is still the slowest thing they've ever tested. They tested two more Audis too. Again they were way faster. To be a fair fight they'd probably have to find a diesel A4, but it's probably faster too.

Miata = awesome handling fun car, but fast! LOL!
