The 5 speed in my 97 Miata needs to be rebuilt. I think that rebuilding mine would be better than taking a chance on a used one. I have a friend that owned a transmission shop several years back, and will rebuild mine if I get the parts. Can anyone suggest where I might get a good quality complete rebuild kit for the miata 5 speed. I know that there is a transmission repair parts shop on Irving Blvd., but I can't remember the name of the place (I am out of state at the present time, so I can't go buy there.)

Set up a mazdacomp account using the building a car approach. Then run 2 solo events when done. That is the quality affordable parts approach.

I think you are going to find out that just the parts alone will far exceed the cost of 2-3 used transmissions. I have a good used 5spd sitting in my garage that I pulled out for a 6spd that I am willing to part with. Rebuilt shifter including lower boot and all seals have been replaced. Shifted smooth and had no gear noise when I removed it and has around 90k miles on it. Send me a PM if you are interested.
