Thread: mx3 shifter

  1. #1

    Default mx3 shifter

I have a 93 mx3 and the bushings holding the shifter broke. I cant get them from Mazda and I'd rather not put in used parts. Any ideas on where to get the parts? Maybe an after market source?

I don't know of any parts that Mazda doesn't still sell for the tranny. Which bushing, specifically?

There are plastic bushings that hold the ball at the base of the shifter. I lent the car to someone pushed so hard on it he broke it and now the shifter sits on the exhaust

They all show as available from Mazda. Total of around $20. Call Town North in Richardson or Rosenthal Miata online. If you can't get them to order it, they suck. Let us know how it goes. If you do any kind of autox or racing you can get a racers discount and order directly.

Are the shifter parts interchangeable with the Protege?

If OZMDD can't order them, maybe check to see if there is a Ford or Kia or ??? that uses that shifter.

From the Mazdaspeed site, it looks like the MX3 and the 323 used the same shifter. The 2000 Protege diagram looks like it uses different shifter. However, the MX3 diagram looks a lot like the shifter in my 2000 ZX2 S/R.
