Thread: Smoking deal on an NC2

Default Smoking deal on an NC2

Tis is probably the best deal I've seen on an NC2. The ad says auto, but it's clearly a manual in the photos. Deals like this might get me divorced if I'm not careful, so someone else buy it!

I am pretty sure this is he car David and I went to look at. David is in the market for a Miata, but title is salvage. Seller was very open about that when asked (but did have to be asked). Seller did the repairs to the car. Looks good to me the unprofessional, but David was not interested in dealing with a salvage title on a Miata.

Overall Miata was is decent shape. Not cared for by anal enthusiast as it had normal car dings and scratches, but nothing alarming.

Yep, didn't look up anything on it. Makes more sense. If its not crash damage that salvaged it, its still a great price

I've had two cars (including my first Miata) that *should* have had salvage titles and didn't. Both cases were a surprise to me, discovered after I owned the vehicles for a bit. In both cases, the damage and repair were non-issues throughout the time I owned them.

If they're repaired properly, the only real problem with salvage title cars is that you can't insure them. I could convince myself that "I'll be careful" but I'm not willing to bet $10K that the yahoo next to me in traffic won't total my car for me. Of course, that could be because I've had two Miatas totaled for me by inattentive fellow drivers.

What do you mean you can't insure them?

I had a Salvage Title RX7 that State Farm insured for a year or so I did not carry full coverage on it but it was a cash car. I had liability and uninsured mexican motorist coverage on it.

You can insure a salvage title car just like any other. In Texas, part of the process is being issued a "rebuilt salvaged" title, which is what they actually say, which is fine with insurers. Talking liability here. For comprehensive/collision there may be some limitations on value, but I doubt I'd ever carry comp/collision on a sub-$10k car anyway. I guess I'd only consider it as a personal or fun car, which means I wouldn't give it to my wife or kid to drive (if it's rebuilt from an accident) and I wouldn't bother repairing it again if it got wrecked again. If it's my fault, I eat the loss. If it's the other drivers fault, I'm buying another car.

I meant comprehensive/collision and I carry that on cars worth over $5k or so. In addition to the incompetent fellow travelers out there, if my car gets stolen or burns to the ground, I'd like coverage. Maybe I need a better insurance company, but mine told me they wouldn't write any level of comp/coll on a salvage titled car.

OZMDD already fixes and sells cars. If he could pick up selling car insurance, then he'd offer one-stop shopping. There'd be no stopping him!
