Shop around. I found a shop near me that was happy to evacuate 134 from one of my cars, allow me to do the work I needed to do and then recharge afterward.
So the OTM (Ranger) has a what I believe to be a slow leak on the condenser. Parts are cheap and so I thought I'd replace it and a couple of other items. But to do so would require the 134 in it to be taken out of it.
Local automotive A/C place said no unless they were doing all the work on the truck and the ballpark estimate (With Warranty) they gave me exceeds the actual retail value of the truck.
Paperclip in the old Schrader valve would work but in the name of environment friendliness how do I get the old Freon out and retain my TCB status?

Kwik kar did this for me as well on an old mustang. problem with them was when they filled the system they use too much oil so it did not cool as well. someone will work with you

I'd suggest calling Ace Miatas, as they definitely do R134, and might do R12 also. I use Lake Highlands Automotive for R12 charges. They aren't dirt cheap, but they do good work and are also willing to work with me on evac/recharge with a few days in between.
