I have read from people that have sat in it that it is not an obstruction to line of site (you can see the bottom of the windshield over it), but IMHO it could look a little better if it had a hood/pod around the side/back that extended back and down toward the base of the windshield sort of like a miniature of the gauge hood.
That stupid screen sticking out was the only thing that really bothered me last time I was looking at Mazdas. Although with the 'tablet' looking design looks like it would be easy to yank out and replace with a cover when the software is obsolete in 2 years.

On 'normal' cars, that screen is the radio (and other stuff too), correct?
My dad drove from Palmdale, Cali. to Grand Junction after picking up Flyin' Miata's ND with Bill. They split the driving since the truck had to be driven out to Thermal towing an NC to re-work the exhaust for the new rearend.
Dad and Bill both said the ND is pretty awesome. Very torquey. Lower rpm's to gain power. Dad's words "it's the best stock miata" I've ever driven. They got 39mpg on one tank and were getting 34mpg on the 2nd tank. They made it back in time for FM Summer Camp.
Another fun fact, my dad and I drove Flyin' miata's NC from Denton to Albuquerque when it first came out in early 06'.

The one bad thing I have heard about the ND for autocross is that it has a short 2nd gear.
Yea, the display is terrible.
^Don't all the Miata 6-speeds have a short 2nd gear? Have they published ND ratios yet?
PS - That's very cool Sharpie...what is your dad's relationship with Mazda, or is it FM?
Bottom line, top speed in 2nd gear (at 6800 rpm) works out to 56 mph for the base and 57 for club/GT (different wheel/tire).
With all the shortcoming I'm now thinking Eco Boost Mustang in OSU Orange.![]()
Give us a minute and we can find things wrong with the Mustang also.

I have seen and heard enough of how good the ND is and the comparisons over the NA and NB. No doubt it is a much better car than the NA and NB. Other than the look, is it better than the NC? ... and how about a nicely mod NC? Of course, I have a mod NC and is not convinced a stock ND is that much better that I have to run out and put down $30K for a new one! Anyone know of any NC and ND comparison out there?
