Thread: SCCA Classing?

    Default SCCA Classing?

So I have been reading through the SCCA Solo rule book trying to figure out a couple of things but I keep reading myself in circles. I'm pretty sure my first setup would be a DM but want to get a 2nd opinion. As for the 2nd setup... I'm at a complete loss. I thought it would be DM but from my understanding, aero parts aren't allowed.

    1. What class would a currently STS class Miata be in if I installed a supercharger? I know it won't be competitive (don't care) just trying to figure out what class I would be in if I registered for an E.R. event with a supercharger.
    Performance mods:
    • coilovers
    • rear brake upgrade
    • header
    • 15x7.5 wheels w/RS3 Ventus tires
    • roll bar
    • racing bucket seats w/harness

    2. What class would a "race-prepared" turbocharged Miata be in at an event using SCCA classes?
    Mods:
    • Turbocharger
    • coilovers
    • 15x9 wheels
    • Hoosier tires
    • gutted interior
    • Aero parts (i.e. rear wing, front splitter, etc.)
    • Torsen rear diff
    • Brake upgrades
    • Spec Miata roll cage

I believe the first setup woudl be SSM.

    1. SSM

    2. SSM (with interior), I don't think any of the classes allow wings and gutted interior, may be B mod?

I agree that setup 1 would be SSM, with a full interior. I think that without a full interior it would be Prepared or Modified. Even Street Prepared is allowed some aero, so I'll have to do some research.

On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

In D mod I think you can do splitters and spoilers (within limits) but no wings.

Thinking now it would be XP with no interior and a wing

DM won't allow a wing I know that much but I'm not sure on SP. I'll do some more reading.

I don't remember reading about XP. I'll do some more research on that group as well.

    Thanks for the insight guys!

SSM is a good place for the car with FI. Duck tail spoilers and splitters are legal as far down as CSP. The wheels and tires are pretty wide open in any of those classes.
