I just replaced my O2 sensor with similar symptoms. Any codes? How recent was the timing belt changed? Is it still timed correctly?
my 1.6 Miata stalled few times while i was driving. I was cruising for a good 20min until it started to act up. I was slowy pulling away from a stop sign and i gave it gas didn't do anything just fell flat, no power.... stalled out... so i had to baby the gas pedal to get it where i need to go. so i let it sit for a few minutes. took it around the block ran fine! i recently did a timing change, new fuel pump, plugs n wires, coil pack and new fuel filter i say all about 1 month old. My headers are slightly crack on the welds don't think it would cause that type of prob but. or could it be a bad o2 sensor???

I'd start with checking for codes first.

Do you get any codes??
I replaced the timing belt about a month ago. I haven't check for codes yet, I will let you guys knw what code it throws. I will install the 02 sensor tomorrow and see if it helps.
Before you go and fire the parts cannon you may want to check and see what the codes tell you.
The other thing to check is the CAS.... that was the issue on my 90.... ready the parts cannon.....
