Thread: Electrical Troubleshooting a Ford Ranger

Default Electrical Troubleshooting a Ford Ranger

So the A/C Blower motor works great but after I drop off SHMBO to work I get no A/C blower motor at all......

Drive home pull my Scope on a Rope and my Ford Service Manual

    ^ Scope on a Rope!

Then I go through the following 3 steps

    1. Check all fuses and everything checks out fine.
    2. Look around for bad connector of frayed wiring still find nothing.
    3. Locate the under-hood relay box for the blower and smack it with a stick.
      Blower fires up.....

Why does so much of the troubleshooting on this darn truck end with the procedure "Smack it with a Stick"???

Must not be a Honda since I drove it home to fix it.

    Uhhhh . . . it's a Mazda B2000 with a Ford badge.

Rogue doesn't even recognize the later model NB's, NC's or ND's and he refuses to believe Mazda made the Mazda6!!

But yea there is a lot of Mazda in a Ranger which may help explain a few things.

Actually I don't think there is any Mazda in a Ranger, it is nothing but a re-badged Ranger, the techs at the Mazda dealers hated them. I drove Rangers for the better part of 20 years, never had any issues with them.

My old Focus had a resister pack by the fan motor that controlled the High/Medium/Low. On the Focus, they go out. Don't know if the Ranger has the same setup.
