Where the hell is it?
Hey guys,
I sniped a motor on eBay and need to go get it. How do you go about hauling one back? How do you get it in/out of the truck?
I've never done this before and was curious as to how to go about doing that.

Dunno yet! Waiting on the seller to get back to me. It's listed as in the Dallas area.

Go to Harbor Freight and get a furniture dolly put a couple of 2x4 boards underneath the front pully and you have a great motor holder on wheels for less then $15.
A tire works pretty well. You put the sump in the center. Tie it down of course.

Hee... I was wondering how long 'til we saw that line!!Originally Posted by Mark52

It's an '89 1.6L short nosed crank motor... complete with intake, exhaust manifold, injectors, wiring, etc...
It does have a badly buggered up crank nose... but a friend that is a machinist thinks he can machine out the keyway and gear to make a new, larger key fit. But I do wonder if Merv, Gary, or one of the other guys on here that have spare parts laying around would have a short or intermediate nose crank somewhere... or even a long one... I can swap out the oil pump and pulley/gear assemblies (and whatever else) to make it fit.
Not too bad for a last minute snipe on eBay - $76.
I'm thinking that the head and other internals will probably be in decent shape considering that the crank nose is wallered out.
A friend helped me load it up on his trailer and we brought it back to my place, sat it on a furniture dolly and rolled it up the driveway - damn those things are handy!
Now to clean out a spot so I can roll it in the garage.

I would check with FM as they alway seem to have extra OEM parts lying around. I think they had short nose cranks for $50 or less.

I already emailed them. They don't have any in the shop right now... I'm checking with a couple of other sources as well.
