Wow! How many of those miles were yours?
The car has been sold.
After only 482,000 miles, it is time to let go of my 1999 black and tan Miata. The motor died on the highway. I expect it was due to a head gasket failure resulting in the engine overheating to the point of timing belt failure.
On the upside, it has relatively new RoadHugger Radials. On the downside, it has over 482,000 miles. It has a complete Bosectomy, but needs a new driver's side tweeter and I will be removing the head unit to put in the replacement Miata.
The vehicle is located in Shreveport. I'd like to get $400, but I realize that is very optimistic. I cannot transport it to the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Ask Mazda, they may want to buy in back from you! With that many miles on the clock, they may want to put it in the Mazda Museum!

If someone buys it I can put a motor in it for $1300 (parts and labor). 99 engine with (125K) 10K on a conservative turbo tune
Wow you put 310,xxx miles on it! Thats 12.4 trips around(24,902 miles) the Earth! Im guessing the miles is from work related travel? 482k miles is a achievement for any car!
When I bought it, I lived in south Fort Worth and worked in Addison. That company got bought in 2011, and the new job had me living in Marshall and working in Shreveport, with a commute to Fort Worth and back every weekend.
The 482k isn't quite the achievement, as I had to replace the transmission with a salvage one at 36x,xxx, and the motor at 412,xxx, and again at 472,xxx, with the salvage motors having unknown mileage. I'm not willing to gamble on another salvage motor, since the cost of the 2003 replacement Miata with 135,xxx miles is about equal to the total cost of each of the engine swaps if car rental is included, as it was my daily driver. That said, I think baker99miata is offering a good deal, and I wish I would have known of the availability of a similar deal when the first engine failed, provided it wouldn't have taken multiple weeks to do the swap.
