    Default Vics

Because of missing parts, the VICS on my 1999 intake manifold has not worked since this engine was installed. I finally got a round Tuit. So, I bought a Summit RPM switch to use on my VICS. After a lot of research, mostly on the pointy board, I got the VICS working today. I had to install a VICS solenoid, bracket and some vacuum hose.

The wiring was not as bad as I had expected, a little cut, snip and strip. I soldered all the connections, then used heat shrink or wrapped with electrical tape.

I set the switch at 2500 rpm and tried to start the car. With the first try, the car started and the VICS worked just as it should. I smiled. Then I reset the switch to 5600 rpm.

If any of you guys would like for me to help you set up your rpm switch and VICS, you had better ask soon, before I forget how I did it.

As I recall, I had mine set at 5400. Next time you take the car to the Dyno make a run with the butterfly's open and a run with them closed and use the point where the torque lines cross to set your rpm switch. On my slightly modified engine I could never see any difference in torque using the VICS manifold for some reason.

My car exceeds my driving ability. That's the only possible explanation.

Good question. A good author would have defined the acronym the first time he used it.

VICS stands for "Variable Inertial Charging System" and helps with power by using intake manifold resonance tuning to help force more air into the engine at a specific rpm range.

I also wondered about this but figured it has something to do with the Vapor Rub...
