    Default Roofers

Be more careful and / or clean up after yourselves.

I have had three flats in the past three months all due to what I believe are roofing nails.

Prior to this I haven't had a flat in years.

    Sheesh.

I told the roofer they were responsible for all flats for 3 months and added the language to their contract. The supervisor had the crew pick the area clean and ran a magnetic roller several times a day.

Hmmmm . . . . Getting a metal roof put on over the next couple of weeks. Same roofing nail concerns as with shingles? They are stripping off a shingle roof.

Yes, be concerned those nails fly everywhere as they rush to get done.

Screw the tires, I got a square tar paper nail embedded in the bone of my heel.

    I was a roofer a million years ago...when it's 150 degrees on a roof, you don't give a sh*t where the nails go!

Yep, I did summer house framing work in college (included decking and rolling felt on the roof) and it helped convince me to work even harder at school. As the utes say, "zero shits given" about where the nails went.

Might be time to drop by HF and pick up a magnetic sweeper.

I think it's too late for me...my nails (summer of 1980) are long gone.

You sir a gentleman and a scholar. Nicely done. Bold I might add.

I recently bought a house in McKinney. Being new to DFW (new to Texas), I asked my realtor for recommendations on contractors to do a variety of remodeling work. I contacted the recommended roofer and got a quote for gutters and wind turbine installation. When I questioned him on cost, he became curt and told me that there is a waiting line for him and some customers are paying him a premium on top of whatever insurance will pay in order to get on his calendar.

I understand that there is a high demand for good, experienced roofers. Not sure if this dude's behavior and gouging is consistent with what you guys are seeing.

^this. I didn't even get any roof work done and I got three flats! Five houses on my street got new roofs though. So I would say yes, be aware of where the nails are going.

Ouch. Hope you feel better soon! Did you need a tetanus shot?
