I know you kids have skillz. I'm looking for any and all documentation on the OEM Alarm.
Here is what is going on. Ya get in the car to go somewhere and you can sometimes twist the key a half dozen or more times before it will decide to kick the starter. Doesn't always do it just when you want to go somewhere or immediately after ya get a compliment on what a nice car it is.....
If you leave the car in the garage unlocked it will start the next day first try - That is why I'm thinking it has something to do with the OEM Alarm. Any useful thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I'm under the gun here since "our only good car is in Stillwater and all we have here is crap."![]()
^ That is something I hadn't thought of I'm going to go swap to the 2nd set of key! Thanks!
My car was doing something similar with no alarm. I cleaned the ignition tumbler and it solved it.
Mazdaspeed delivered the part yesterday in about 15 minutes I had it installed.
We will see if this solves my occasional no start issue. I appreciate all the insight!
Swapped Key - Check
Replace Ignition Switch with a New Switch - Check
Drove it around for the past couple of days - Check
Tonight Click, Click, Click, Click, Click then it finally started.....![]()
Where is the Click, Click, Click, Click, Click coming from? Starter Relay? Starter Solenoid?
1995 M Edition
Mine does the same thing somewhat frequently but I've been loathe to dig into it. Since it clicks the ignition switch is fine but it could be the starter solenoid itself, the starter could be misaligned (I'll admit all i did was install the thing, I've no idea how it's supposed to be aligned) or simply corroded wires/ground points. That last one is what scares me. The fix could mean running brand new wires for the entire starter motor circuit so.... I'll just click click click away till it turns over for now. I'm not fooling anyone, my car looks like ass.
Ziggo does your have the factory keyless entry? My click seems to be inside the car from what I can tell.
Biggest problem is I'm normally swearing at the car when it does this little "trick". I need to pay more/better attention![]()
I don't think that was even an option on '93s , and having recently been mucking with the doors I am sure this one never did regardless. There is no wiring or motors for power locks in there.
Had similar issue. Rogue gave a known good starter, switched it out after some cussing, and it's been starting again.
