The surface is made of unicorn hooves, and ultra sticky. Your tires will actually gain rubber back as you run!
It's fun. You follow the road course (clockwise), but there's an AX course (cones) to keep you in check.
Who all is running the road course Sunday?
For those that have run it before, tell me a little about it.
What is the surface like?
What are the average times going to be?
I am pretty excited about the event and I've notice there are a lot of people signed up that don't normally run with SCCA, so I assume it must be a good one.

Also don't forget if you leave the surface that is made of unicorn hooves the grip in the grass and gravel will not even come close to meeting your expectations....

Dang, that's awesome...We should have 3 or 4 events a year so we would never have to buy new tires!!

So it's a long fast slalom? Perhaps FTD to Ken O, unless the FSAE or F-Mods show up. :) Should be fun!
[QUOTE=BMcCann;321365]Lies. It's just regular asphalt with no magical properties. For real, be careful out there. There are always a few cars that go off into the Armco. Don't be that guy.
Thanks Kenny for sharing a fast clean view of what a well driven MX5 MSR looks like at TMS. And with regard to the comment about going into the Armco....I will do my best to not "be that guy" this year, but thanks for the support!
FTD?!?!?! Highly unlikely even without Mod cars
Top PAX. Very likely.
The road course is one of my single favorite events in the sport. Fast speeds, great surface and lots of competition.
As others have mentioned. This event is basically %90 track event. So the risks are much higher than a traditional event. That being said. It's still a ton of fun. Just drive within your limits and you'll be fine.

I have the opposite feeling about the road course than most others. It IS a road course with a few cones to slow it down, but it is NOT an autocross in any real sense, so the pax is always heavily skewed. Wish it was not a points event, but you can't win em all. :)
I enjoyed the event the first couple of years, but the course is the same and there are many delays from the inevitable accidents (fortunately no one has suffered serious injury yet.)
Its definitely NOT an event where you should drive close to the limits, unlike most autocross sites. Its a neat experience and a unique site/course, so well worth trying if you've not done it before. Not many regions get access to the inside of a NASCAR track for the day, and TX region works hard to maintain that special access.
If you ever have an opportunity to drive the road course without the cones, do it. Its a ball.

I don't think it's any secret that I HATE it. Road course with a bunch of cones in the way.
I'll bring the water. Probably compete since I paid for it. Not excited.
Y'all be careful, please.
What club is running a event there?
