Yes children I do understand my Jitterbug phone has GPS capabilities, but I don't want to use my phone. My wife's Iphone has great GPS unless we are on the road and need to go somewhere. My Samsung phone will do GPS but the fear of a fire keeps us from using it.
We have also had the no service no GPS issue which can be a PITA.
We want a TCB (Team Cheap Bastard) GPS (Global Positioning System) that we could use in our collection of old and decrepit relics of days gone by. AKA. the 'lac, The stRanger, and Vivid the Wonder Miata. Plus an occasional Hertz/Avis/Budget/Enterprise Rent a car.
Anyone got any recommendations? We had an old Magellan that we liked but it went across the rainbow bridge.

We're in the Garmin camp, also. We bought a refurbished 7" with voice commands. It has a bit of trouble understanding the Texan that I speak, but we still like it. I have forgotten the model number and am to lazy to walk out to the van. Here is an inexpensive one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Garmin-nuvi-...-/182249439914
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

So looks like Garmin is the way to go but how does one decipher Garmin's model numbers? Man they have a lot of variations....
The suffix is usually LM for lifetime maps and/or T for traffic.
I have a two year old 4.3 inch lifetime map model if you want it. It does not have traffic though.
Thanks Vissi I think I'm starting to get the Garmin code.
The Garmin Nuvi 2589LMT is the one I'm thinking I like..... I think......![]()
Be sure to get one with a little Asian girl named Laramie to tell you where to go. I think that model is AL or LA. Jimmie will know. Or just ask him where she tells him to go. I think it's the same all the time.
Found a Certified Refurbished Garmin Nuvi 2589LMT on Amazon and it came with a 1 year warranty.
I appreciate everyone's help!
