The torsens are not cheap, it seems like they are always over 500$ depending on the gearing.
You could pick up a vlsd for the lemons car for cheap though. (not rated to be nearly as good, but better than an open diff)
I chatted with the recent Lemons winner, driving a NA Miata.
They said that the Torsen was a significant upgrade for the car.
Anyone know where I can get one.
What years and models did they come in?
Theres one on Ebay, but it's missing the driveshaft, and it's more than I want to spend.

I have a Toshigi Fuji Super 4.3 with carrier and Mazda Comp bushings in the garage. I'll sell you for $250. It's not quite as good as a Torsen, but it's much better than an open diff. I AutoX'ed and tracked it for a couple of years.
If your NA is '94 or newer it will swap easy. If not you'll need new axles. The TFS will only give you 2 to 1 torque to the loaded wheel, where a Torsen is 2.5 to 1. The TFS is a little lighter and not quite as rugged.
See this for more details: http://www.miata.net/garage/diffguide/index.html

I'll take some pics of what I've got in the car now.
After all the swapping I've done, I don't know what in the current setup now :)
I'll need help from the board to figure out how to move forward with improvements.

So, this is what I'm running now, and looking to consider how to improve this.
Please feel free to make recommendations and provide the parts list for the whole upgrade solution.

The drive train is a 1990.

If you go Torsen, you'll need new axle stubs too.
What is needed to get to the Fuji Super ?
Jay Johnson
The same, new axle stubs, axle nuts and driveshaft
Do you still need a Torsen? I have a complete 4.3 Torsen diff assembly from a 99, as well as the axle assemblies and driveshaft that I've been hoarding. I've finally decided to go NC, so it's time to clear out some garage space. The 99- Torsen is VERY robust and still gives you the 4.3 ratio. WAY stronger than the 1.6 diff.
I also have a rear subframe (with brace), all 8 control arms, front and rear uprights, and a few other bits (starter, airbox w/AFM). All of which would make great spares for your LeMons effort.
Also- are you looking for an additional team member/driver?
Tim Buck
Tim, the friend that bought my black '92 may want that Torsen setup. Send me a price and I'll forward it to him.
