About 6 months I went in to exchange a ratchet and was shocked how bad their new ones were. They used to be good but not great tools at a good price but they got into a race to the bottom for price/quality and it shows. Kinds of sums up all of Sears brands. Used to be pretty good but going to China killed the quality and they could not complete with the bottom price sellers. Sears will not be around much longer.
This can only be good from where they are now!
Plus it is good to know my total lifetime investment of $69.95 in Craftsman tooling is safe.
Will be interesting to see if B&D keeps producing Chinese junk, or steps up the quality. I have a few ratchets that could use replacing, but I'm wondering if I'm better off with them than the new stuff.

One of my Craftsman ratchets that I bought in 1985 recently broke. The replacement I got from Sears seems fine, actually better quality than the old one that broke.
Good, it must be a different model than the ones I was looking at. The ones I saw were on par with the $5 parts store ratchets, they had at ton of play in the head and overall bad feel to the ratchet action. They felt cheap and low quality. Far below the Lowes, Home depot and HF ratchets which are nice for the money. They must have some better models that I did not see.
Still use my JC PENNEY ratchet set I received as a gift in 1983. Remember when they sold MCS stereo equipment and bicycles?
