Registration fees are probably not covering the entire track rental cost. TNiA sponsors (TireRack, Koni, Mazda, Falken, Hawk, et. al.), and Pirelli World Challenge are likely covering a portion of it.

They added another event on the same day! Go sign up now!

The TNiA web site is now showing Event #1 and Event #2 at COTA. Event #1 starts at noon, #2 at 3:45.

I moved my registration to the earlier time slot.

    I keep getting this message:

You are already registered for this event. If you have not completed checkout, please check your cart for a pending registration.

However, my cart shows to be empty.

I sent an email to see if I can get some help before it's too late.

Jack Track says they will be going through the waiting list before they open up registration for the second event. He also indicated that I am pretty high on the list and will probably get in...yay!

I will be in the earlier run group.

I have moved to the earlier session also.

I just heard back from Jack Track. TNiA considers track length and number of passing zones to determine the number of cars in each run group. Each run group for the COTA event is capped at 38 drivers. So, six times 38 is 228 drivers, if all groups sold out.

I asked about staying overnight at the track, but Jack didn't know what COTA's policy is for overnighting. He said I would need to contact COTA directly. Now that I am in the noon session, I will be driving back Wednesday night, so the overnight thing is a non issue for me. I'm not going to ask COTA about the policy.

So if COTA charged 60K, driver fees would cover, at most, a bit more than 50% of that.

Has anyone heard about the weather situation in South Austin? COTT has been known to flood. I guess I better pay attention the next couple days.

This site shows road and low-water crossing closings around Austin. Looks pretty clear around COTA as of right now, with good access on major roads from most any direction.

    All,
Just talked (texted) with India ("Jack Track"). She's given out a lot of COTA TNIA refunds due to cancellations related to Houston-area weather. If you want a different time on track--morning, afternoon, evening--it's possible that she "Jack Track" can accommodate. I know this is last minute, but I'm passing this along.

Warm, but beautiful weather at COTA today. That track is a blast!

I drove in the first event. I had so much fun I was tempted to sign up for the second as well, but decided I'd be too tired driving home if I did that.

I had a great day. Like Skip said, that track is a blast. It's hard to believe that asphalt can have that much grip.

After looking at my data, my best lap was a 3:09.3 sec. Top speed on the back straight was 102 MPH (GPS, not speedometer). And, the advanced group was allowed to pass anywhere on the track, with a point by. Great fun.

Dang 102? You could have drank a coffee and read a book on the back straight :)

I wasn't very fast either. 2:57 and 110 mph. Watching my videos, it's clear that the corners, in general, and those hairpin corners especially, are where I have the greatest opportunity for improving my times. There are a number of turns I could take full throttle if I had the cojones. :)

I hope I get to go back again sometime relatively soon.
