Default Simpson Hybrid S on sale July 2017

Simpson's Hybrid S 3-point belt compatible FIA-approved head & neck restraint device is on sale during the month of July.

It is designed to work with the OEM 3-point belt system, but it is fully compatible with racing harnesses too.

I think this is a great safety item that is worth having if you track your car. I have one that I use with both of my NCs, one with OEM seats and belts, and other with roll bar, race seats, and 6-point harness. It works just like a regular HANS in the latter case, and may even be a little more secure since the Hybrid has straps that tie into your harness sub-belts.

You can get it with M61 or sliding post anchors.

Decent if you're instructing but kind of bulky. I prefer my Schroth Flex vs wearing a vest thing around all day.

It's more bulk than HANS / Schroth Flex / NecksGen, for sure. I've never used one of those, but the Hybrid isn't bad. I just unclip it and toss it on the seat when I get out of my car. I'm sure instructors will end up wearing it more.

The way I see it is if you only track cars that have a harness bar/belt system, then a HANS / Schroth Flex / NecksGen type HNR is the ticket. They are cheaper, lighter, and less bulky than the Hybrid. But if you track or instruct in cars with OEM 3-point belt system, the Hybrid S is designed for that. Then it makes sense, even if it's not your only HNR.

So FYI it's WAY cheaper to buy a Hans device from the UK. About half price. Comes with legit FIA rating. They aren't supposed to ship to the US but there are ways around that.

I've seen similar assertions on other fora. I do not doubt them. But I wonder why it is so much less expensive to buy from the UK? We're getting shafted.

Just a reminder to anyone thinking about buying a Hybrid S, the current sale goes through the end of this month.
