Polishing Rim Lip

I've got a set of rims that have/had a polished lips on them.

It looks like the clear coat has failed but the rest of the rim still looks good.

Has anyone tacked this project? Recommendations??

Jack up the rear wheel, hold a piece of sandpaper to the lip, and have Swmbo shift out until sparks or parts fly.
