Default NTAXS Autocross #2, 4/15/17, TMS Bus Lot

DRIVERS MUST PRESENT A VALID DRIVERS LICENSE.

    North Texas Autocross Series (NTAXS)

Texas Motor Speedway Bus Lot in Fort Worth, TX
    $50/driver entry fee.
    Pre-register at http://www.dlbracing.com starting March 31.
    No on-site registration.

The event is limited to 65 drivers. Once the event reaches 65 drivers, you will have the option of joining the waiting list when you attempt to register on DLB Racing. If your entry from the waiting list is accepted, then you will receive an email with links to complete your registration and submit payment, but you must do so within the next 24 hours or the invitation will expire. Note that the invite will use the Eastern time zone.

You get eight runs at NTAXS events, so you will make four runs in the AM session and four runs in the PM session, with a lunch break in between.

8 AM – 9 AM Check-in, Registration, and mandatory Tech Inspection
(You must arrive in time to check in and pass tech inspection prior to 9 AM)
8:00 AM – 9:15 AM Course open for walking
9:00 AM Novice Meeting (mandatory if new to NTAXS events)
9:15 AM Drivers Meeting (mandatory for all)
    9:30 AM First car out

Car Classing is based on engine size:
    - Class 1/1R is for engines under 2.3 liters, except Honda S2000 and Lotus
    Elise/Exige.
    - Class 2/2R is for engines over 2.2 liters, but under 4.0 liters, plus Honda S2000.
    - Class 3/3R is for engines over 3.9 liters, plus Lotus Elise/Exige.
    - Class S2000 is only for Honda S2000 on street tires.
    - Class X/XR is an open class for any engine displacement and induction.

Rotary engine multiplies displacement by 2.0. Usage of forced induction multiplies displacement by 1.5. (This is in addition to the rotary multiplier, if applicable.) Tires with a wear rating under 140 must use the R class.

I'm in but a little confused to why I'm in Group 3. When I had the 370z I had a 3.7 liter 332HP 4.8 sec to 60 car and in group 2. Now I have a 3.0 Liter 300HP 5.0 sec to 60 car and I'm in group 3. I think someone needs to rethink this 1.5 multiple for Turbo cars. Seems a bit unfair to me.

Because hp #'s and 0-60 matter so much in autocross… I'd love to run my 100 hp Miata in group 3. I'd have a chance to win every race.

True ... but sometimes it seems like unnecessarily so. But it's cool. I'll run in any group. After my last coneathon at TMS just trying to get some seat time in at the site. Been a while since I've run there.

Well I'm on the waitlist. After this weekends rain out and next weekends family stuff, I'm going to be hurting for some seat time.

Horsepower does matter but it is only one of many items that matter. But that wasn't the point I was trying to make. NTXAS classes are determined by engine size ... hence possible power output. I was trying to draw attention that forced induction isn't always going to equal 1.5 more power. I do not know how long the engine size thing has been in place. Just suggesting that maybe the engine sizes could use a little fine tuning or forced induction taken down a notch. Or just don't worry about it and run what you have. I'm going with the latter. Sorry for making a suggestion. You would think I would know better by now.

The charm of the NTAXS system is the simplicity of the rules. It is pretty easy to figure out into which of the 9 classes you fit. If you really wanted to win your class at NTAXS you could build a class killer. But if you took your class killer to any of the other clubs then you would be thrown to the wolves. Most people like the run what you have attitude and don't worry too much about whether they are going to win.

No one is cancelling. I usually have several by now, but only two, so far.

    From the 'book -> https://www.facebook.com/ntaxs/

    Tomorrow's run order:
    Run 1/3 - 2, 2R, 3, X, XR
    Run 2/4 - 1, 1R, S2000
    and

Don't forget that Cowtown Cars & Coffee will be sharing the lot where we paddock in the morning. It'll be fun to take a look at the cars on display. They'll be on the north end.

That was fun. I got faster on my last two runs when I slowed down for that tight left-hand u-turn that lead into the back offsets, and the 90 degree right at the finish.

It was the best autocross I attended yesterday! The 'chute' across the middle, and into the sweeper was the best part of the course. Great job NTAXS!
