    Garage Guys just bought out JJ Rushing performance and we are now open in Pilot Point:

    We're right across from Western Son's Distillery and Brewery, so we'll be partnering with them. Basically, we'll host car shows that will transition into evening music/party events.

    We're kicking around the idea of purchasing a Dyno. How many of y'all would be interested in paying $1000 for Lifetime* dyno sessions?

    * Lifetime = no limit on years, but we'd limit to around 8 sessions annually. Can't have some you yahoo's visiting on a weekly basis.

    Feedback appreciated....

    Could I take an hour or more for tuning? What is they dyno make?
    M3 is always the answer.

    It's a DynoJet. We will start with a 2WD system, but it can be upgraded to 4WD later if there is enough interest.

    Yes, you can take 2 hours. We'll have a we portal for you to reserve time.

    The advantage of the larger roll dynamometers (15,000/7500 series) over cradle roll (5000/6000 Series) dynamometers where equivalent steady state loading capabilities are present are several fold. The main advantage is the repeatability of larger roll dynamometers over cradle roll; especially in higher horsepower vehicles. The tire deformation and overheating problems in cradle roll dynamometers simply are not relevant in larger single roll dynamometers and provide a better overall testing environment. The main advantages of larger single roll dynamometers over cradle roll dynamometers are as follows:

    1) Much lower tire deformation
    2) Better real world road simulation
    3) Much better repeatability from run to run
    4) Lower heat and power loss in the tire due to lower tire temperatures/less friction
    5) Less wear on the tire
    6) Higher inertia for much better sweep type testing
    7) Higher reliability
    Less dependent on strapping technique

    The only advantages of cradle roll dynamometers over larger single roll dynamometers are as follows:

    1) Less physical height requirement – no lift or pit is required
    2) Sometimes easier loading onto the dynamometer
    3) Force/load multiplier of the eddy brake due to the smaller roll size – less expensive and smaller eddy brake required to obtain high loading.

    I would be willing to buy dyno time in advance but probably not $1000 worth. Too many shops don't stay in business long enough.

    How about $500 for 5 years?

    Might also be smart to charge a $10 fee per session. Most everyone will need help getting loaded and strapped.

    We're looking at options to help fund the $75k price, so we can likely work something out. We were discussing having a $10 or $15 min fee, but it all depends on volume; We may waive for the first 15 people to sign up then introduce a nominal fee as such.

    Keep the suggestions coming. We're looking for mutually beneficial ways to make this happen.
