Did it matter if it had warmed up or not?
So the Ranger took an extended break when the water pump let go so the garage queen 2002 Miata was pressed into daily service.
It ran OK but would occasionally fall on its face at around 2,000 to 2,500 RPM while accelerating almost like someone shut it off. It wouldn't always do it but it did it enough to piss me off.
No codes, and wasn't racking up any misfires so not sure where to start.
Any thoughts or suggestions on what could be causing this dip??

How old are plugs/wires/fuel filter?
Plugs are maybe 2 years old. Coil on Plug Setup. Coils were replaced about 5 years ago plug wires were changed the same time as plugs. Not 100% sure on fuel filter but it has been changed at least one.
In the past 4 years, we have put less than 4,000 miles on the car. It has been pretty much retired to Autocross duty.
We did, however, drive it down to Waco at over the posted Speed limits a couple weeks before it was forced back to daily use. It ran like a champ and gave us no issues.
You'd think if it was a Plug, Wire, Coil issue I'd see misfires when I scan the car. But maybe not.
Since it sits around for extended periods, maybe throw a bottle of dry-gas (or whatever it's called these days) in it?
Did it start acting up after the Waco gas? Any chance the new gas was bad? I would start with a new fuel filter.
